The Riverland Energy Youth Ambassador Program is an educational experience and enjoyable program designed specifically for high school juniors. It's a great way for students to interact and work with other students by examining the business of operating an electric cooperative.

Applicants should have a sincere interest in learning about rural area development and cooperatives. Students will become familiar with the infrastructure of Riverland Energy Cooperative, learn about renewable energy, and have the opportunity to participate in youth leadership conferences and tour renewable energy sites and a power plant.

The program will run October - May. The only qualification is that students must be a junior in high school at the start of the program.

July 11- 13, 2023

UW-Stout, Menomonie, WI

Students who participate in the youth ambassador program have the opportunity to attend the Youth Leadership Congress held each July at UW-Stout.  The purpose of this conference is to introduce the business structure of cooperative business; examine the scope of electric cooperatives and how they affect everyday life; demonstrate the power and value of cooperation; help identify and develop leadership skills; provide a forum for teenagers to discuss issues and solutions important to them; meet and learn to work with people from our state; provide an opportunity for students to experience college life. Students will also have the opportunity to earn scholarship money through an essay contest and earn an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. if they run and are appointed to the Youth Board.
